OnVUE

OnVUE is Pearson VUE’s online proctoring platform, letting people take high-stakes exams from home instead of a test center. As a UX developer on the team, I worked across three projects aimed at making that experience less stressful for both candidates and the proctors watching over them.

SmartReview Dashboard

The main project I worked on was the SmartReview Dashboard, an AI-powered tool that let proctors review and analyze past exams for potential infractions one test at a time instead of scrubbing through raw footage. Building it meant working closely with the AI team to get the human review flow and the model’s flagged output talking to each other cleanly — the dashboard had to surface what the model found in a way a proctor could act on quickly, without just dumping a confidence score on the screen and calling it done.

Accessibility Improvements

I also worked on bringing the platform in line with WCAG 2.1 — better keyboard navigation, proper form labeling, and improved color contrast — testing each change directly with screen readers rather than relying on automated audits alone.

Check-in Improvements

The rest of my time went into the exam check-in flow itself: simplifying the setup steps, cleaning up navigation, and adding progress indicators and clearer feedback so candidates knew where they stood before an already stressful exam.

The SmartReview Dashboard was the hardest of the three to get right, and the one I’m most glad we shipped.
